GrantSonar Companion — Privacy Policy
Effective July 9, 2026. Applies to the GrantSonar browser extension.
What the extension collects
Nothing. The extension contains no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking of any kind. It does not read your browsing history and does not run on pages in the background.
Funder lookups
When you search for a foundation (from the popup or the right-click menu), the search text you selected is sent to GrantSonar’s public lookup API to return matching foundation profiles. Lookups are anonymous — they are not tied to an account and are rate-limited by network address only to prevent abuse.
Grant capture
The extension can read the address and title of the tab you are viewing only when you click the capture button (Chrome’s activeTab permission). Clicking it opens grantsonar.com with that page’s address so you can check your organization’s fit. Nothing is read or sent until you click.
Storage
The extension stores only local preferences (such as a development API override) on your device using Chrome’s extension storage. It stores no personal information.
Your GrantSonar account
If you follow a link from the extension to grantsonar.com and sign in or sign up, the GrantSonar privacy policy governs that activity, exactly as it does for any website visit.
